CHARTER BOATS

NOTE: Colin has changed his boat for 2009, he now runs a Lochin 33 which gives him better economy than previous. Plenty of space on the back too as the wheelhouse is pushed forward. Pictures will hopefully follow soon and replace the ones below.

NEW FOR 2009!! SMUGGLER of BRAYE Fully sponsored by Daiwa Sports for your convenience.

There is a new boat for Alderney which started at the end of the season of 2008, however the face is familiar. Colin Dukes has been synomonous with Alderney for over 30 years now and has decided to move his business from Exmouth to Alderney. Colin has sold his Cat and is now operating with a massive monohull, an Offshore 125, as you can guess he has kept the Smuggler name with this boat now called Smuggler of Braye. At 40' long it is not just longer but also wider than his old Cat and provides plenty of space for all your gear and 12 anglers. There is plenty of space whether Smuggler is on the drift or at anchor. I have crewed for Colin with 12 novice anglers and we managed plenty of fish with tangles minimal, however given the costs Colin is offering the boat at it is very affordable with just 6 anglers!  2009 Colin is offering the boat for around £450/£500 per day dependent on distance traveled from the island. Stick close to the island (don't forget you are already 8 miles away from the French coast!) and it will be the cheaper option. Travel in to the Channel for wrecking or Congering then of course it will be more like £500. Colin is fully sponsored by Daiwa thus has top quality fishing rods and reels which makes life a bit easier for you if transport is a problem. He has a full set of Daiwa Saltists with level winds and loaded with Accudepth Braid and Kenzaki Braid Boat rods in 12lb, 20lb and 30lb enough for every angler in every size. Beyond that there is a lot more gear too for you to try.

As an angler you have several ways of getting here depending on your location. If you are coming from the UK you could do one of the following:

1) Simply fly direct to Alderney from Southampton ( http://aurigny.com/default.aspx ) or  Bournemouth ( http://www.blueislands.com/

2) Alternatively you can fly to Guernsey which if you live away from the airports mentioned above but find it easier to go to any London airport, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter amongst others then Smuggler can pick you up from St. Peter Port or from St. Sampsons in Guernsey and that could be your first days fishing as you travel back to Alderney.

3) You could also take your car/mini bus to Poole or Portsmouth and take the cheap trip across the Channel with P&O to Cherbourg. Smuggler could collect you from Cherbourg or from the pretty port of Dielette. Again that first day afloat could be your first fishing day.

4) Not the cheapest way, and maybe not beating the weather but Smuggler could collect parties of anglers from Weymouth too.

If you are coming from Jersey or Guernsey then Smuggler may well collect you or you could use one of the above airlines that I am sure you would be familiar with to get here.

If you are coming from Europe then probably the easiest way is to be collected from Dielette. Colin has already this Summer collected half a dozen Belgian and Dutch parties this way, very convenient for all.
