Teignemouth angler Roy Repton recently broke the Channel Island Boat Record for a Thick Lipped Mullet with this 6lb 3oz fish. With all the big fish around Alderney in the Winter it is a record that should be a lot higher, however the old record stood since 1989! December 2004

Mark Walker with a 5lb 8oz Mullet. January 2006

Steve Ace with a change of species, a very fine 4lb 3oz Black Bream. One of a lot of fish caught during his visit. January 2006

And Steve again, this time with a 6lb 8oz Mullet.

Martin Larkins who is a very keen Mullet angler showing a bit of class with this fine 10lb 1oz fish. January 2006

Steve Brownilow with a night time Mullet, 6lb 8oz. January 2006

Rod Worrall with another fine fish, this one went 8lb 4oz. January 2006

A very plump Mullet for Scott Smy, this one dropped the scales to 9lb 9oz. January 2006

Myself with my first ever Undulate Ray caught close to the island. I was looking for Blondes but this was close enough!  January 2006.

Steve Ace again!! A good angler is Steve and he has proved it again. This time he has broken at the very least the Bailiwick of Guernsey Shore Record for a Smoothound. The fish is currently under going tests to prove what species it is. At this stage it looks like a Starry, if it is then it is new Channel Island Record. It weighed 14lb 9oz and 2dr. February 2006

Here is something very different. This Salmon which weighed 7lb 4oz was caught last summer aboard Tiger Lily skippered by Chris Caines. The angler, Robert Barr, was using a traditional running ledger with a 6/0 hook attached to a short length of wire. It was landed on a 12lb Ugly Stik rod coupled with a Penn 320. February 2006

Here is Colin Walker who was recently over with Glen Cairns aboard Valkyrie. The strange fish that he is holding is a John Dory which weighed 4lb 8oz. You don't see many of these and they are beautiful to eat...........apparently (I never got a fillet of this one!) March 2006

Below is the biggest reported Turbot of the season so far. It was caught aboard our local boat Alderney Felix ( www.alderneyangling.co.gg ) and weighed 18lb 5oz. Here Cornish angler Derek Bowdler proudly displays the fine fish. Derek and his friend came in the shop talking of their trip out aboard Felix and to say they thoroughly enjoyed themselves is an understatement. April 2006

...........and then the following day the best of the season is beaten again. This time it is aboard Glen Cairns' Valkyrie. A fish of a lifetime dropping the scales to 25lb. The fish put up a fabulous scrap on an ABU Conolon and ABU 7000 Lever Dr4ag Reel. More details to follow. April 2006

Peter Woods with his 20lb turbot caught on drift fished launce fillet to a 4/0 hook and running leger rig aboard Paul Whittalls Offshore Rebel. Peter used an Abu 7000 reel loaded with 20lb braid and a 15lb class Abu rod. April 2006

Dutchman Jan Kiel was on his second visit to the island, first time was with his own boat, this time with a visiting charter boat the Bessie Vee, here he is displaying one of many Tope that have been caught of late. This one went 38lb. May 2006.

.......and on that same trip is John with a fine 21lb Turbot. May 2006

Below, caught aboard Smuggler V was this fine Brill. The weight of it is up for debate due to the scales used but for sure its minimum weight was 11lb 8oz. The Channel Island record is 13lb 9oz. The very satisfied angler is Steve Draper from Swansea. May 2006.

A good mate of mine Lee Whitcombe had this cracking Ling over a bit of rough stuff in the Channel, not sure if it is a personal best but at 26lb it was a cracking fish. June 2006

Not to be outdone the following day Pete Reynolds caught this fine 25lb Cod. Both Pete and Lee are great mates and we had a cracking five days fishing, just look at the weather they bought with them. This picture was taken mid Channel. June 2006

And on the same trip, second to last drop I hooked this 8lb 4oz John Dory. My first ever, tasted gorgeous too. Totally fluked on an orange pirk. June 2006

A very chuffed Rob Santucci with a 15lb Turbot. Rob was here a fortnight ago and kindly sent the picture, thanks Rob. He was here with the same group that come over every year aboard Mike Bakers Rose-Anne from Exmouth. June 2006

Had to put this one up. Cracking Cod of 23lb 4oz caught mid channel, best one since I've been in Alderney. The sea as you can see was flat calm, these are special days. Next time I'll catch a bigger one to cover that developing paunch!! June 2006

Sometimes you can get sick of all the fishy photographs so how about this one. Taken from Chateau L'Toc before a June evening Conger succession. June 2006

I've not been out much lately so this is just reward me thinks...............ok maybe not, just lucky. You can see what it was caught on and it dropped the scales to around 10lb 8oz. October 2006

Stuart Trought who skippers our local boat Alderney Felix proves he can catch fish as well as put the boat on fish with this super Tope. You can see he wasn't far from the shore neither. October 2006

Matt Pitter with a 9lb 15oz Small Eyed Ray caught during the festival in October. Matt won the overall UK angler with four specimens which gave him 289%.

He also caught this Bull Huss too.......................on top of this he also caught a dogfish which he never let me have the photo, too embarrassing he reckons.

The following two picture are of John Deam who was one of a group of 4 who stayed over for a fortnight over Christmas. A very successful visit for quality and quantity. In amongst their better  catches included 84 Bass, (best night 30 to 7lb), 24 Red Mullet and nigh on 30 Thick Lippeds, just three species mentioned from the 15 they accumulated which also included Smoothounds and Codling. Anyway this Plaice went 4lb 8oz and the Sole below was over 3lb. December 2006

And this picture is appropriate too. It is part of the same trip mentioned above and is Roy Repton with a 2lb 7oz Red Mullet. The appropriateness is that Roy starts this years Gallery with a Channel Island record Mullet, and now he has finished it. December 2006
